These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of The High Council (“we”, “us”), which operates The High Council. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Questions: thehighcouncil.support@gmail.com.
The High Council is an AI-generated historical simulation. Historical figures are portrayed by AI models conditioned on historical sources. Their words are newly generated, are not authentic quotations, and do not represent the views of any real person, community, tradition or faith. Artwork is an artistic reconstruction, not an authenticated likeness.
Generated dialogue can be mistaken, incomplete or anachronistic. It is offered for reflection, learning and discussion — not as professional, medical, psychological, legal, financial or religious advice. Check important information against reliable sources. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if higher, to create an account. Keep your sign-in method secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You may delete your account at any time from your account page.
You keep your rights in the questions and messages you submit. You allow us to store and process them, including with the providers described in the privacy notice, to run your councils and operate the service. Your private councils are not published. You may use transcripts of your councils for any lawful purpose, subject to the acceptable-use rules above and the disclosure that they are AI-generated.
New accounts may convene one free council with a limited amount of conversation, without payment details. The free offer is one per person and may be changed or withdrawn.
Membership is a subscription billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, at the price shown before you pay ($14.99 / month, or $119 / year where offered), plus any applicable tax. It renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period and you will be charged the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page (“Manage billing”); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, you keep access until then, and you will not be charged again. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a price increase applies to your membership, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
Membership includes a monthly allowance of conversation, shown on your account page, and daily limits listed on the membership page. If you reach the allowance, your councils pause until it renews on the first day of the next calendar month (UTC). Unused allowance does not carry over. We may adjust allowances and limits; we will not reduce the allowance during a period you have already paid for.
Payments are non-refundable except as described here or where the law requires otherwise. If you were charged in error, or a renewal charged you after you forgot to cancel and you have not used the service since that renewal, contact us within 14 days and we will refund it. If the service is unavailable for an extended period because of our fault, we will refund or credit the affected time on request.
If you live in the UK, the EU or another place that gives consumers a right to withdraw from online purchases, you have 14 days from your first purchase to cancel. By convening a council during that period you ask us to start the service immediately; if you then withdraw, we will refund your payment minus a proportionate amount for the service already provided.
We work to keep the service available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Features, figures, models and limits may change. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms; if we close a paid account without cause, we will refund the unused part of the current period. When these terms change materially, we will post the new version here with a new date and, for members, notify you by email before the change takes effect.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” without warranties, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator is established, without affecting mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Before bringing a claim, please contact us at thehighcouncil.support@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it informally.
